Counselling 7th September 2010

What happens in counselling?

Counselling is an opportunity to talk over and work through issues with a trained listener who will not judge or criticise you. It can also be a chance for a new start in life.

We begin by arranging a preliminary meeting. This is for you to talk about what's bringing you to counselling and to get all the information you need in order to decide whether to go ahead with the counselling. It is also for the counsellor to state whether he or she is qualified to help you with your particullar issues. You are making no commitment by having an initial meeting.

If you decide to go ahead, you book up a set of 6 weekly 1 hour sessions.
During the 6th session you review how the counselling has been for you and what changes have happened in yourself and in your life. You then decide if you would like to finish or if you would like to continue working on your issues at a deeper level.

When you feel ready to stop the counselling you just say so and we end with a final review.
